Bowdoin College is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming environment. Please contact the Events Office (events@5dexam.com or 207-725-3433) with any questions regarding the accessibility of this event and/or to request an accommodation. Please note: some accommodations require advance notice.

If you have an accessibility request for a commencement related event, please fill out the Commencement Accessibility Request Form. The information collected on this form will help us to make Commencement and related events accessible for more attendees. Please fill out a separate form for each individual requesting accessibility related services.

An ASL interpreter will be available at both the Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies. If you need ASL interpretation, please fill out the Commencement Accessibility Form or contact the Office of Events and Summer Programs so that we can ensure you have seating with a clear line of sight to the ASL interpreter.

A limited number of Assistive listening devices (free of charge) will be available at both the Baccalaureate and the Commencement ceremonies. Please see an usher for assistance. For security purposes, a driver's license or other identification will be held to check out an assistive listening device.

Closed captioning will be provided on video walls during the Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies.

Golf carts, driven by volunteers, run over the course of the weekend.

On Friday between 3:30 -7:30 p.m. Carts start on the main campus and transport guests to Watson Arena for the Baccalaureate ceremony. Following the ceremony, carts are available to transport guests from Watson to the buffet lines then from outside of Farley Field House to cars or dorms.

On Saturday, golf carts run between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. from North Campus Drive and the Chapel to the Commencement ceremony. Following the ceremony, golf carts are available to transport guests between the hours of Noon-2:00 p.m. and move from the quad to pick up lunch at Farley and from Farley to parking

The Beam Classroom in the Visual Arts Center building will be open during the Commencement ceremony as a low stimulation room available to guests who wish to get away from the large crowd. The ceremony will be live streamed to this room, including captions. The room is air conditioned and will have low lighting.

Pets are prohibited inside all College buildings and at all dining events. Service animals are welcome.

Accessible parking spaces are designated in all parking areas. A number of accessible spaces may be found on North Campus Drive for Saturday's Commencement ceremony.

Accessible parking spaces are available for guests holding a state issued accessible parking placard.

Guests with mobility impairments may be dropped off at the Bowdoin Chapel for Saturday's Commencement ceremony, where golf carts driven by volunteers will be available to help transport guests needing assistance.

A few rows of accessible seating will be available at the Baccaulareate and Commencement ceremonies. Accessible seating is designed with extra room for guests who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices, it is also located in proximity to the nearest accessible restrooms.

A shuttle bus will be available to transport people from the Commencement ceremony on Saturday morning to the luncheon at Farley Field House. The shuttle bus pick up location will be on Park Row, behind the museum of art. The location can be found on the Commencement Accessibility & Information Map.

A limited number of wheelchairs will be available free of charge and on a first-come, first-served basis for use on campus. Advanced reservations are required.  After March 1, please contact events@5dexam.com or call the Events Office at 207-725-3433 to reserve a wheelchair.
